MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging is a noninvasive medical test that helps physicians to diagnose various conditions of the body. MR imaging uses a powerful magnetic field, radio frequency pulses and a computer to produce detailed pictures of organs, soft tissues, bone and virtually all other internal body structures. MRI may not be suitable for bony structures for which CT scan is preferred. There is no hazard of any kind of radiation in MRI. Soft Tissue details are very pronounced with MRI. Which scan to be done depends on what needs to be visualized and the reason for the test. Radiologists are the best persons to guide which test is best for showing anatomy according to the reason for the examination.
